SRC incurred losses due to Najib, former director tells court

The High Court in Kuala Lumpur heard on Wednesdy (May 8 ) that if Datuk Seri Najib Razak had acted on the advice of the board of directors (BOD), SRC International Sdn Bhd would not have incurred any losses from the investment of RM3.6 billion belonging to Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP).

Former director of the company, 75-year-old Datuk Che Abdullah @ Rashidi Che Omar, pointed out that SRC International Sdn Bhd operated differently from other publicly listed companies, with its ultimate decision-making authority resting with the former prime minister.

Prasarana to compensate RM20mil to replace and build SJKT Castlefield, says Loke

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad would bear the RM20 million compensation to replace and build the entire SJKT Castlefield in a new area, namely Lot 133 Taman Wawasan, Puchong Town Centre, said Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said in his speech on Wednesday (May 8 ) that the company had been entrusted with building a replacement school after taking over property on which the present school is on for the Light Rail Transit Ampang Line Extension Project.

Loke added that Dhaya Maju Infrastructure Asia Sdn Bhd (DMIA) meanwhile will pay any extra construction costs through its corporate social responsibility by being the developer of the project by designing, constructing and completing the school.

Religious scholars must preach moderation to do away with extremism, says Ahmad Zahid

Religious scholars must utilise their leadership by practising empathy and preaching moderation to instil unity among nations, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In his closing speech to religious scholars from various countries gathered in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (May 8 ) at the Asian Ulama Council 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister said that ulama should also be advisers to policy makers by advocating tolerance and guiding a middle path to do away with the ideas that Muslim religious scholars were extremists in nature.

At the event, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar called on the Muslims to go beyond their own school of thought and stop being divisive.

Attack on JDT’s Safiq an isolated incident, says Johor top cop

Johor police want the public to stop speculating on the attack involving Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) midfielder Safiq Rahim so they can investigate the matter in-depth.

State police chief Comm M. Kumar told reporters after the state police contingent Hari Raya Open House on Wednesday (May 8) that the attack was an isolated incident unrelated to cases involving football players in other states.

He added that police will also take extra precautions for the Charity Shield match between Selangor and JDT at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Friday, adding that more than 1,500 officers and policemen will be deployed during the game to ensure safety and traffic flow.
