Testing and tuning of the Porsche 911
The first Porsche 911 sports car for the road with a hybrid drive is in the starting blocks. Following an extensive development and testing programme, the new 911 with a performance-focused hybrid drive is ready for series production.
Testing and tuning on the Nürburgring Nordschleife has always had a special significance during development of the 911. Over the course of performance testing, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister completed a lap of the circuit in 7:16.934 minutes – 8.7 seconds faster than the corresponding version of the predecessor model. The test car was equipped with standard road tyres, plus the aero kit with a fixed rear wing that has been available as an option for several model generations now, and which provides increased downforce at high speeds.
Alpine Cup 2024 - The edition of "The Great Alpine Journey" begins
The fourth edition of the Coppa delle Alpi by 1000 Miglia is underway: this afternoon, in Trieste, the technical and sporting checks will take place in Piazza Unità d'Italia, from where the regularity race for cars built up until 1990 will start tomorrow morning which includes 90 Timed Trials for over 1,600 km.
The 5-stage Grand Tour will cross the entire Alpine arc from East to West, from Trieste to Courmayeur, crossing the borders of 7 nations: 1000 Miglia presents The Great Alpine Journey, a path of reflection parallel to the race aimed at representing the socio-economic transformations , anthropological and environmental aspects that cross the Alpine macroregion. To make the competitors an active part of the project, the number of cars competing has been limited to 30, flanked by a further 8 cars which will host reference experts on the macro-themes addressed.
During stops along the route, the experts will meet local institutions and examples of Best Practice, encouraging exchanges and sharing experiences. The sum of these contributions collected over the 5 days will be presented in a final conference, scheduled for Saturday 4 May in Courmayeur.
Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 - a rolling prototype with a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine that will excite motorsport fans
Under the spotlights of the 2022 Paris Motor Show, Alpine presented its Alpenglow concept, a veritable manifesto of the brand's future directions in design and sustainable innovation, the "mother of all future Alpines". This founder model embodied the brand's ongoing research into hydrogen-powered combustion engines for sports cars, with the potential for high performance both on the road and in competition, in line with the brand's ambitious decarbonisation targets. Alpine is therefore ready for possible changes in future regulations.
Today, the Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 is no longer just a concept car but has become a genuine rolling lab designed as a racing car with its carbon monocoque and turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine develops 340 hp.
After a presentation within the confines of the circuit on 10 May, Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 will make its public debut on 11 May 2024 before the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps Endurance Race (FIA WEC) and its 70,000-plus spectators. It will be the perfect opportunity to demonstrate to motorsport enthusiasts how a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine perpetuates the sounds and vibrancy that are the emotional aspects of a racing car. The feeling is intensified by the very spectacular design of the Alpine Alpenglow Hy4, which is further enhanced in this version. Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 will also make demonstration runs during the 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 14 and 15 June 2024.
The significance of the name Alpenglow takes on its absolute meaning with this rolling lab: the optical phenomenon that casts a glowing light over the mountains before sunrise perfectly symbolises the dawn of a new world.

With the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, the brand with the three-pointed star presents the first fully electric variant of its off-road icon. It symbolises the fusion of tradition and progress like no other. The all-new electric G-Class remains true to the model’s character, retaining its angular silhouette including all iconic elements. Like the conventionally powered variants, its body is built on a ladder frame. The development team has modified and reinforced this to integrate the electric drive. Also retained is the combination of independent front suspension with double wishbones and newly developed rigid rear axle. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame ensures a low centre of gravity. With its usable capacity of 116 kWh, it provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres according to WLTP.
The four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels develop a maximum total output of 432 kW. Together with the selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction, they enable unique driving characteristics and exclusive functions. This allows G-TURN to turn the vehicle almost on the spot on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function can deliver a significantly smaller turning circle when driving off-road. The three-speed intelligent off-road crawl function is like cruise control for off-roading – maintaining optimum propulsion while the driver focuses on navigating the terrain.
Like the tried-and-tested variants, the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology has a gradeability of up to 100% on suitable surfaces. The vehicle remains stable on sideways slopes of up to 35 degrees. With a maximum fording depth of 850 millimetres, the electric G‑Class outperforms its conventionally powered counterparts by 150 millimetres. The LOW RANGE off-road gearing increases propulsion with a special reduction ratio. The all-new model generates the function of conventional differential locks virtually using intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR brings a unique sound experience to the all-new electric G-Class. In addition to a characteristic, G-Class-specific driving sound, it includes one “aura” sound and a variety of “event” sounds.

The overwhelming popularity of the 3.5T AWD powertrain and optional Luxury Pack have seen both become standard across the 2025 GV80 range.

Audi Q6 e-tron – Battery and charging technology – Animation
This technical animation shows the new battery and charging technology of the Audi Q6 e-tron. Powerful, compact, and scalable electric motors, as well as a newly developed lithium-ion battery consisting of twelve modules with a total gross capacity of 100 kWh (94.9 net) ensure a range of up to 625 km (388 mi).
Audi Q6L e-tron premiere at Auto China 2024
The electrically powered car will be shown as an exterior model at the spring motor show in the Chinese capital; the series version will then make its public debut in the fourth quarter of 2024. Like other PPE models for the Chinese market, the Audi Q6L e-tron will be locally produced in a new factory in Changchun. The first deliveries to customers will take place in 2025.
The Audi Q6L e-tron is defined by impressive driving and charging performance, excellent efficiency, and an even greater range than the global model. The wheelbase, longer by 105 millimeters, also allows the installation of a larger battery. With it, CLTC ranges of more than 700 kilometers will be possible. The letter “L” in the name signals the long wheelbase, which is also becoming the hallmark of outstanding long-distance capability.
Audi has been building “L” models with an extended wheelbase for the Chinese market for decades. The A6L and A4L are the best-known large-volume versions, alongside the Q5L, A8L, and A8L Horch. Now, Audi is adding the L model to the Q6 e-tron family - providing even more space, comfort, and everyday usability. Together with the new interior design philosophy, the Q6L e-tron is creating a very exclusive and generous space for passengers in the market.
The Audi Q6L e-tron epitomizes Audi’s distinctive SUV design with consistently further developed e-tron-specific design language. Very few associations can exhilarate and delight like the union between a naturally-aspirated V12 Ferrari engine and open-top motoring: the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, unveiled today at an exclusive event hosted at Miami Beach, fuses these two very special sensations in a two-seater berlinetta spider powered by Ferrari’s iconic twelve-cylinder engine. This iteration of the V12 delivers 830 cv and keeps revving right up to 9500 rpm, offering the driver and passenger an even more exclusive open-air driving experience.
The concept giving shape to the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider draws inspiration from open-topped Ferrari Gran Turismo models of the 1950s and ‘60s, which combined the unmatched performance of a road-going racing car with the unique opportunity to revel in the sound of the 12-cylinder engine with the roof down, and extraordinary long-distance driving comfort. The design of the car makes a break from the recent canons of the Ferrari two-seater berlinetta spider genre, eschewing muscularity and sensuality in favour of a more futuristic language founded on formal purity with only the barest hint of a typically automotive visual lexicon.

The F140HD engine equipping the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider is the new version of the iconic naturally-aspirated Ferrari V12, the purest expression of Ferrari’s soul: its peerless performance, powerful soundtrack and exclusivity make it the worthy heir to the legendary berlinetta sports cars that wrote some of the most glittering chapters in the marque’s history. The engine can unleash up to 830 cv while its max revs have been increased to 9500 rpm thanks to the adoption of innovative solutions.
The engine features modified components and software, some of which were already adopted on the open-top special series 812 Competizione A, ensuring it tops its category in terms of performance. To allow the V12 to rev so high, the engineers worked to reduce the weight and inertia of the engine’s components, adopting titanium con rods, which guarantee a saving of 40% in rotating mass compared to steel with the same mechanical resistance. A different aluminium alloy was used for the pistons, making them lighter than on previous applications. Further weight reduction was gained by the adoption of a rebalanced crankshaft which is 3% lighter.

Volkswagen presents the new ID. Buzz GTX- The electric Bulli equipped with a powerful performance drive system will in future be available with two wheelbases, two battery sizes and a choice of 5-, 6- or 7-seater. It also comes with standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive for optimum pulling power and traction in every driving situation.
The new ID. Buzz GTX is equipped with two electric motors – both together form all-wheel drive. The top speed of the GTX models is electronically limited to 160 km/h.
The ID. Buzz GTX is characterised by an individualised front end. A bumper in GTX styling with a black air intake grille in honeycomb design and new side air guide elements also ensure a dynamic, distinctive appearance. New daytime running lights are integrated into the bumper on the left and right.
Volkswagen has also customised the interior equipment. Dark tones underline the sporty character of the most powerful ID. Buzz. For example, both ID. Buzz GTX versions are the only models in the product line to be equipped with a black headliner. The seats also feature the specific GTX design.
