A Murder Is Announced (1985) (Part 2) (2/2)

A Murder Is Announced (1985) (Part 2) (2/2)

The 2nd half of Part 2 of the Miss Marple mystery. The murderer has struck again at Little Paddocks, but the village is shocked when it is Dora Bunner who dies after taking Lettie Blacklock's sleeping pills. Superintendant Craddock steps up security around the household as he tries to figure out who among her past could want her dead. But then another murder throws the case wide open, but also provides a valuable clue in discovering just who the killer could be...

This is from an old video tape which was released in two parts. The mystery itself was originally broadcast in 3 episodes, and this segment of my video tape would of been the 3rd and final episode. It's easily one of the best Miss Marple mysteries ever done, and I have to say there is some fine acting among some of the cast. Please note I do not have all of the Miss Marples, and only one more in my collection to upload, which will be sometime next week. Until then, enjoy this adaptation.

A Murder Is Announced (1985) (Part 2) (1/2)

The first half of Part 2 of the Miss Marple mystery from 1985. As Superintendant Craddock continues his questioning of the villagers over the shooting at Little Paddocks, Miss Marple decides to make some inquiries of her own into trying to figure out who may want to kill Miss Blacklock. But little do they realize that the murderer isn't finished yet, and before long another murder is committed - one that shocks them all!

A Murder Is Announced (1985) (Part 1) (2/2)

The 2nd segment of Part 1 of the Miss Marple mystery. After the shooting at Miss Blacklock's house where hotel waiter Rudi Schertz ended up dead, Superintendant Craddock discovers from the maid at the hotel that Rudi had been paid to do the stunt. However, Miss Marple believes he was used as a blind for the murderer and that the real killer is still out there, meaning Miss Blacklock's life is still at risk. But who among the seemingly innocent villagers would want her dead - and why?

This is from an old video tape that was released in 2 parts. This is the 2nd half of the 1st part. The other parts are to follow. Apologies in advance for any glitches there may be.

A Murder Is Announced (1985) (Part 1) (1/2)

The little village of Chipping Cleghorn is stunned when their local paper announces there is to be a murder committed at the home of Letitia Blacklock at 7pm that day. Naturally, all and sundry turn up at the house out of curiosity, but Miss Blacklock and the other inhabitants of the house deny putting such an advertisement in the newpaper. However, at 7pm the lights go out, 3 shots are fired - and someone lies dead on the floor...

This is from one of Joan Hickson's superb Miss Marple series from the 1980's, and easily one of the best they ever did. Among the many star names in this - some before they were famous - are John Castle, Ursula Howells, Renee Asherson, Simon Shepherd, Samantha Bond, Nicola King, Kevin Whately, Elaine Ives-Cameron, Sylvia Syms, Ralph Michael, Matthew Solon, Mary Kerridge, Paola Dinisotti, Joan Sims, David Collings, Vivienne Moore, Liz Crowther, Tim Charrington and Joyce Carey (here aged a sprightly 87). As well as being a fiendishly clever mystery, everyone looks to be having a lot of fun, in particular Simon Shepherd and Samantha Bond as the siblings living with and related to Miss Blacklock. This is from one of my video tapes - an old bought tape, rather than a recorded one this time, and although this was originally a 3 part mystery when broadcast on February 28th 1985, the video tape came as two 1hr 16min parts. Because of this I have had to separate those parts in two to upload on Dailymotion, so this 1st part (1/2) is the length of what would of been the 1st episode. The rest of this superb mystery will follow tomorrow sometime in 3 more parts. Until then, enjoy.

1986 adverts - Hotel Paradiso

1986 adverts - Hotel Paradiso

These are the adverts that appeared during the broadcast of the film Hotel Paradiso in 1986. There are a couple of famous faces, including Richard Marner (Allo Allo), Ken Stott (The Vice) and Rebecca Saire in a Mail on Sunday Sleeping Beauty ad. There are three ad breaks in all and contain a few famous ones, including the Hamlet cigars, Hoffmeister bear and "Sid" adverts by British Gas. And I've a feeling someone in authority will take The Mail on Sunday advert with Rip Van Winkle seriously one day (you'll know when you see it). The ads are as follows:
1st break: Amstrad stereo systems (Can't beat the System robot); The Mail on Sunday newspaper (Rip Van Winkle); Rank Xerox Documenter computer (Faceless Business); Le Piat Dor wine (English interrupt French picnic), and The Class of Nuke 'Em High film advert.
2nd break: Clairol wavelength curlers (Girls in dull bar); Hitachi Opus 1 music system; British Gas (If You See Sid Tell Him - Rock climber meets Old Girl); Cockburn's Port drink (Richard Marner, Robin Bailey - U Boat captain has English dinner); Hamlet cigars (Ken Stott - Andrex Puppy spoof); Debenhams/ Estee Lauder "Beautiful" perfume (Bride) and Class of Nuke 'Em High film ad.
3rd break: Amstrad 6128 computer (Spilt computer users); Durabeam work torch; Hoffmeister beer (Star Gazer); Rank Xerox Documenter computer; Electric Cookers (Woman sees cooker in home for 1st time); The Mail on Sunday's You magazine (Rebecca Saire - Sleeping Beauty); Soda Stream fizzy water (Father & Son demonstration).

(Note: I know adverts are pretty popular on Youtube, so if anyone wishes to add these on there then they are welcome to all my adverts. They are on here for people to enjoy, after all).

Supermarket Sweep Xmas Special (Dec 17th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep Xmas Special (Dec 17th 1993)

In this Christmas Special to round off the first series, today's Xmas crackers are Elaine & Simon from Bristol, Anne & Jennifer from Nottingham, and Rob & Mandy from Coventry. Dale Winton hosts in a surprisingly formal suit for Xmas with the supermarket decked in white Xmas trees. And it proves a lively episode right from a frantic Mini Sweep, as one player proves very good in the quiz rounds - though she does have trouble stifling giggles at some of the more saucier sounding clues and answers. "Have you had your medication yet?" asks Dale at one point. But it all changes when they switch players to make it more interesting going into the Super Sweep - though one team will have to go like the clappers to make sure they are not left behind. And they do in what proves a thumping good sweep - especially for a cameraman - though the other two teams aren't safe from her either. But will it be enough or will one of the front runners earn the right to go for the Xmas goodies of £2,000? It proves astonishingly close in the cash totals, while for the victors there is a Xmas twist to play for, but will they pull it off in time? I couldn't say, but it's a rare episode that has an uncensored swear word pop up by one contestant, the audience going crackers in a special game at the end, and if you wanted to know what the man behind the voiceover in the Super Sweep, Bobby Bragg, looked like then here's your chance. Merry Christmas all!

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 74 - Dec 16th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 74 - Dec 16th 1993)

Today's contestants are Pam & Barbara from Derbyshire, Mike & Sue from Essex, and Margaret & Debi from Hertfordshire. Dale Winton hosts and sees one contestant make mincemeat of the Mini Sweep. "What kept you?" he asks. Of the teams, one married couple were bowled over by each other, another are sisters (yes, really), while the third are legal eagles. It's fairly competitive in the quiz rounds, but one team gets a crucial lead going into the Super Sweep. But will it be enough in a fast and frantic race, and will the shopping list be all important or a fatal hindrance in a close price summary at the end? And can the victors go on to win the cash prize of £2,000 or will they be caught short at the end?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 73 - Dec 15th 1993) (Returning Men)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 73 - Dec 15th 1993) (Returning Men)

Today's trolley dashers are Kev & Steve from Lincoln, Richard & Wayne from Derbyshire, and Paul & Ross from Stockport. Dale Winton hosts in another Returning Players special, this time all men in a rare first for Supermarket Sweep. It's also all and above board as two of the teams are policemen, including a team from the first ever episode. They are a jolly bunch, but all are keen to have a 2nd chance at winning, though the coppers may want to book one team for speeding as they race into a good lead going into the Super Sweep. As before with returning players, checkout girl Christine comes on with a Xmas hamper, but after a fast and frantic Sweep, it all comes down to the price totalling, but who will be going through to the final and will they get the top prize of £2,000 or fall short yet again?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 72 - Dec 14th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 72 - Dec 14th 1993)

Today's happy shoppers are Liz & Jackie from Newcastle, John & Tracey from Nottingham, and Lynne & Ann from Essex. Dale Winton hosts and finds out that one contestant got stuck in a barrel, one is a pub landlady who puts Dale in his place, and one couldn't repeat what she likes about Andre Agassi. It doesn't go well in the Mini Sweep, while there is an unfortunate pop question during the quiz rounds. But the teams gain decent points and while one team is left playing catch up, another gets a crucial lead going into the Super Sweep. Each team plays tactics of trolley, shopping list and sheer manic speed, but which one will come out on top and can they claim the top prize of £2,000 in the final? All I can say is it's VERY close indeed...

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 71 - Dec 13th 1993) (Returning Players)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 71 - Dec 13th 1993) (Returning Players)

Today's trolley dashers are Elizabeth & Angela from Cardiff, Audrey & Cheri from Newcastle, and Gez & Ann from London. Dale Winton hosts and if the teams look familiar it's because it's a Returning Teams special, where three teams who came close get a 2nd shot at the big prize. And while they seem to of learned from their experience, it stands for nothing in the quiz rounds where they each post very different scores going into the Super Sweep. But is it as clear cut as it looks, and will points penalty sway the result? It's clear it's near Christmas as Dale offers all teams a Xmas hamper, but will the winning team in the Sweep finally get their hands on the star prize of £2,000 or again fall just short?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 69 - Dec 9th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 69 - Dec 9th 1993)

Today's contestants are Barbara & Dave from Newcastle, Wendy & Helen from Nottinghamshire, and Andy & Liz from Surrey. They are a colourful looking bunch, but Dale Winton is eager to add to the colour with a mustard suit and multi coloured tie. (Where does he get them from?). The teams include day nursery pals, another is an airline pilot whose wife envies Demi Moore, while the third is with her husband's best mate on the show. It doesn't go well in the Mini Sweep, but it fairs better in the quiz rounds, with all of them hitting the 2 minute mark and one taking a notable lead going into the Super Sweep. With that in mind tactics come into play for the chasing pack, but will it prove fruitful come the price totalling at the end or are they setting themselves up for a fall? And will the victors triumph where it really counts when they bid to win the £2,000 cash prize?

(Please note that Episode 70 is missing from Series 1 for some reason, so the next episode will be Ep 71. This is nothing to do with me, it just doesn't seem to be available online).

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 68 - Dec 8th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 68 - Dec 8th 1993)

Today's trolley dashers are Simon & Steve from Yorkshire, Christine & Harry from Newcastle, and Diane & Bev from Hereford. Dale Winton hosts and hears how one contestant ended up locked in a cupboard, another wants to marry a millionaire and another is committed to The Commitments. It's a case of two teams battling it out in the quiz rounds, leaving one playing catch up come the Super Sweep. But with teams playing different tactics, who will come out on top, and will a dropped item and last gasp claimed inflatable bonus make all the difference in deciding who goes through to the final to play for £2,000?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 67 - Dec 7th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 67 - Dec 7th 1993)

Today's happy shoppers are Juliette & Ross from Birmingham, Philly & Sue from Middlesex, and James & Gill from Lancashire. Dale Winton hosts and reckons one of a happy geeky couple have a familiar look about them, another team are sisters one of whom has roped in the other due to their fitness lifestyle, and the third met in unusual circumstances on the beach. The scores are staggered after the quiz rounds, leading to an intriguing Super Sweep, but could a shopping list and a damaged shelf give advantage to the chasing pack? It sets it up for a crucial cash total summary, but who will go through to play for the £2,000 cash prize?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 66 - Dec 6th 1993)

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 66 - Dec 6th 1993)

Today's contestants are Christine & Clive from Wootton Under Edge, Trudy & Julie from Bristol, and Eric & Jan from Worcester. Dale Winton hosts and learns that one contestant hates her hubby's feet, another wants to go trekking into space and a third runs his parent's Post Office. Two teams go head to head in a battle royale in the quiz rounds, leaving the third playing catch up going into the Super Sweep. But who will come out on top to earn the right to compete for the star prize of £2,000?

24:28
Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 65 - Dec 3rd 1993)

Today's trolley dashers are Kate & Sue from Cheshire, Dave & Paula from Manchester, and Colin & Charlie from Glasgow. Dale Winton hosts but the teams struggle at first with a simple Mini Sweep question, which makes you wonder how they'll fair in the quiz rounds. He learns that one team have ambitions to run a pub, another would run miles for his love of Willie (Nelson), and the third are sisters with an unusual story about melons (and it is as saucy as it sounds). One team is left miles behind as the other two teams put up a great battle in the quiz rounds, with one team putting in a superb run to pull nearly level. It makes for a compelling Super Sweep, but who will come out on top to earn the right to play for the big cash prize of £2,000?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 64 - Dec 2nd 1993)
24:22
Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 64 - Dec 2nd 1993)

Today's 'happy' shoppers are Rosina & Bryce from Bristol, Sue & Karen from Cleveland, and Guy & Caroline from London. Dale Winton wears an ill advised caramel suit, while one contestant is astonished that her husband gets a question right to earn a shot at the Mini Sweep. Mind you, her comments backfire when she comes to run the Mini Sweep, and she is not the only wife left with egg on her face when one makes a particularly ill judged comment on her spouse. (Maybe he could give Chris Evans and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush a call to teach her a lesson?) By comparison the team stuck in the middle are happy cousins who avoid driving each other mad due to their job - as driving instructors. One team moves ahead in the quiz rounds, but the Super Sweep proves a very close thing at the end making it hard to call a winner. So will the Bryce be right for one team or will another cleave their way through to the prize game? And who will be the fall guy at the end of it all? I couldn't possibly say....

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 63 - Dec 1st 1993)
24:13
Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 63 - Dec 1st 1993)

Today's trolley dashers are Helen & Sue from Cornbury, Mark & Lyn from Macclesfield, and Jackie & Pauline from Newcastle. Dale Winton hosts and of the teams, one runs "the best pub in Cheshire" and has even brought one of her staff with her, another team are Geordie sisters with an embarrassing video story on holiday, while the third are pals from the same village who were persuaded to appear with a couple of gins. All post decent scores in the quiz rounds, with two teams close together going into the Super Sweep. All three go solo at first in strategy planning, but it proves very hard to call how it will go. And could the winning team miss out on the star prize by missing what's under their very nose? Watch on and find out...

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 62 - Nov 30th 1993)
24:28
Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 62 - Nov 30th 1993)

Today's trolley dashers are Vicky & Janice from Liverpool & Manchester, Richard & Karen from Nottingham, and Paula & Debbie from Northumberland. Dale Winton hosts and learns that one team have divided views on soap operas, another dislikes shopping (not looking good already then) while her team mate wants a Spitting Image puppet of herself, while the third team have lost pounds - in weight! It's another episode where the points total between the three teams is very tight, so could the front runner claim the prize or will someone from outfield earn the right to play for the cash prize of £2,000?

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 61 - Nov 29th 1993)
24:28
Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 61 - Nov 29th 1993)

Today's contestants are Roz & Dor from Southampton, Terry & Dawn from Norfolk, and Nicky & Noelle from the West Midlands. All are family connected and Dale learns that one contestant is a ice cream man with ambitions, a mum and daughter team saw one enter a one sided beauty contest and another has an embarrassing moment involving a drowning man, while it's no surprise when the third team say they are into fashion. With the points total among the teams very close after the quiz rounds it looks to be a very tense affair going into the Super Sweep. So who will come out on top to go on to compete for the cash prize, and will they be in the money come the end?

(Note: I am aware that three of the videos I am uploading today I had already uploaded previously but these are of a better quality and now that I know what date they are I felt it easier just to upload them in order).

Supermarket Sweep (S1, Ep 60 - Nov 26th 1993)

Today's contestants are Shirley & Julie from Worcestershire, Paul & Jill from Essex, and Lynn & Tracy from Leeds. Dale Winton hosts and finds out that one contestant had an incident with a wasp on holiday, while another is a big fan of wax - Ruby Wax. One team is left way behind in the quiz round as the other two gain good scores and one a crucial lead. And they play out shopping list tactics in a bid to bump up the shopping totals, but who will outscore the others to earn the right to go for the big cash prize?
