NAGPUR METRO COMPLETION OF PHASE 1 - PROUD OF NAGPUR - IS NAGPUR METRO PROJECT IS COMPLETED _

In yet another step that will revolutionize urban mobility, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated ‘Nagpur Metro Phase I’ to the nation. He flagged off two metro trains - from Khapri to Automotive Square (Orange Line) and from Prajapati Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar (Aqua line) - at Khapri Metro Station. Phase I of the Nagpur Metro is developed at a cost of more than Rs 8650 crore. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro Phase- II, which will be developed at a cost of more than Rs 6700 crore.

The Phase-1 of Nagpur Metro comprises a 39-km-long elevated stretch, with 38 stations and two depots.

The entire stretch has been divided into two corridors: North-South (Line-1) and East-West (Line-2).

The 19.6-km-long North-South corridor with 18 stops will operate between Khapri and Automotive Square.

The East-West corridor with a length of 18.5 km connects Prajapati Nagar in the eastern part of the city with Lokmanya Nagar in the western part of the city and has 20 stops.

The detailed project report (DPR) of Nagpur Metro Phase-II for extending the existing 4 corridors of Phase-1.

Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase-II is scheduled to be completed in 2026. It consists of the following 4 extensions of 2 corridors of Phase I, totaling 43.8 km -

i. MIHAN – MIDC ESR - 18.6 km
ii. Automotive Square – Kanhan River - 13.0 km
iii. Prajapati Nagar – Kapsi - 5.5 km
iv. Lokmanya Nagar – Hingna - 6.7 km

Phase II will connect the satellite cities of Nagpur and highly benefit a population of over 10 lakh residing in these areas. When it is operational, the total length of the Nagpur Metro project will be 82 km.

The 2 phases will collectively lead to an investment of Rs 15,388 crore. There will be a substantial increase in ridership after the Phase-II of Nagpur Metro is operational. The total ridership of the 2 phases after the completion of Phase II is expected to be 5.5 lakh daily. This is expected to increase to 6.3 lakh in 2031 and 7.7 lakh in 2041.

Markandadeo village is a popular place of God ‘Shiva’ and is grandeur for religious people not only in Maharashtra but also everywhere in India. It comes under Chamorshi Tahsil in Gadchiroli sub-division. The village population is about 1000. The village is situated on the bank of Vainganga River.
This temple complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva. However, the Markanda name is derived from the Markandeya rishi of Haryana who was an ardent devotee of Shiva. He went into penance for years on the banks of Markanda River and finally tried to offer his head to Shiva when Shiva appeared and stopped him. He blessed him with a temple in his name.
This temple complex is spread over 40 acres of land and many temples are in a dilapidated condition. The construction is attributed to the Rashtrakuta dynasty which there from the 8th to the 12th century.
There are many intricate idols (murtis) on the outer walls of this temple complex.

मार्कण्डा मंदिर –विदर्भ का खजुराहो
मध्यप्रदेश में खजुराहो के मंदिर अपनी अलौकिक मूर्तिकलाओं के लिए, विशेषतः कामुक मूर्तियों के लिए विश्व प्रसिद्ध हैं लेकिन क्या आपको पता है कि देश में और भी ऐसे मंदिरसमूह हैं जो अप्सरा और देवांगना की प्रतिमाएँ एवं बेहतरीन शिल्पकला में खजुराहो को टक्कर देते हैं। ऐसा ही एक मंदिरसमूह हैं मार्कण्डा मंदिरसमूह; जो महाराष्ट्र के नक्सल प्रभावित गढ़चिरौली ज़िले में स्थित हैं।
गढ़चिरौली ज़िले के चामोर्शी तहसील में है मार्कण्डा मंदिरसमूह जिसे मार्कण्डादेव भी कहते हैं, जो नागपुर से १७८ किमी और चंद्रपुर से क़रीब ६५ कि.मी. दूर वैनगंगा नदी के बाएं तट पर स्थित है। किसी समय यह बड़ा शहर हुआ करता था लेकिन लगातार बाढ़ की वजह से लोग यहां से विस्थापित होते गए और अब यहॉं की आबादी महज़ एक हज़ार है।
इस छोटे से गांव में २४ सुंदर मंदिर हैं जो ४० एकड़ क्षेत्रपर फैले हुए हैं। ये मंदिर मुख्यतः भगवान शिव को समर्पित हैं। मंदिर का एक प्रवेशद्वार नदी के तरफ़ और दुसरा सामने की ओर हैं, तथा पूर्ण मंदिरसमूह चारो ओर से मजबूत किलाबंदी में स्थापित हैं l माना जाता है कि मंदिर का नाम मार्कण्डा, मार्कण्डेय ऋषि के नाम पर रखा गया था जो परम शिव भक्त थे। पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार ऐसा भी माना जाता है कि इन मंदिरों का निर्माण उन्होंने ही करवाया था।
