Happy Gilmore Sequel Coming to Netflix, 2024 ACM Awards Tonight on Prime Video, Bridgerton Releases Third Season
Happy Gilmore sequel confirmed by Netflix with Adam Sandler to star. Almost 30 years after the release of the original film, Netflix has announced the return of Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore. The film was confirmed to the public during the streaming service's upfront presentation on Wednesday. In honor of the big announcement, the PGA Tour also released a clip of Sandler doing his famous swing for what he says was the first time in 25 years. 2024 ACM Awards airing tonight at 8pm EDT. Reba McEntire is set to host the event for the 17th time. Top nominees include Luke Combs, Megan Moroney, Jelly Roll, and Lainey Wilson. Fans can view the award ceremony for free live from Frisco, Texas exclusively on Prime Video. Part 1 of Bridgerton' s third season is now streaming on Netflix. The Shonda Rhimes historical romance returns to the screen for season 3. The first four episodes of the new installment are now available on Netflix for fans to watch. Part 2 will be released on June 13 and will consist of episodes 5-8. Joan Vassos to Star as ABC's First Golden Bachelorette, Legally Blonde Prequel Series Announced, Award-Winning Writer Alice Munro Dead at 92
ABC announces Joan Vassos as its first Golden Bachelorette star. Vassos starred as a contestant on the pilot season of The Golden Bachelor , quickly becoming a fan favorite before departing the show in the third week due to a family emergency. 61 year old Vassos had been married for 32 years before entering the world of reality TV, and decided two years after her husband's passing in 2021 that she was ready to put herself out there again. The series is set to debut this fall, airing Wednesday nights on ABC. Legally Blonde prequel series coming to Prime Video. The prequel series titled Elle was revealed to fans at Prime's first upfront presentation on Tuesday. The film's original star Reese Witherspoon took to the stage dressed in pink to make the announcement. The series will follow Elle Woods during her high school years, exploring the teenage experiences that shaped her into the iconic character fans see in the original two films. Witherspoon is set to executive produce the series along with her media company Hello Sunshine. Nobel Prize winner and short story writer Alice Munro dies at 92. The Canadian writer had a decades long career, entertaining readers from as early on as the 50's. She was honored with many awards throughout her career, including two Governor General's Awards for her 1968 collection Dance of the Happy Shades and 1978's Who Do You Think You Are? She also received the 2013 Nobel Prize in literature for her collection Dear Life . Munro died on May 13 following a 10 year long battle with dementia. Hallmark to host immersive Christmas experience featuring a variety film stars. The event will take place weekly from November 29 to December 23 outside the company's headquarters in Kansas City. The ticketed event will feature classic holiday activities such as ice skating and visits with Santa, but will also allow fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite Hallmark stars and get behind-the-scenes insight into the world of Hallmark during the holidays. Tickets for the event go on sale May 16. Ellen DeGeneres' final comedy special coming to Netflix. In a statement regarding the upcoming special, the former talk show host said 'Yes, I'm going to talk about it,' which is likely in reference to the abrupt ending of The Ellen DeGeneres Show after 19 seasons, along with her 'cancellation' from the entertainment industry. DeGeneres is also set to hit the road on her 'Ellen's Last Stand... Up' tour this June. A release date for the special has yet to be announced. George Clooney to make Broadway debut in stage adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck. The 2005 film will be reimagined into a play and will take the Broadway stage in 2025. Clooney starred in, directed, and co-wrote the original on-screen production, which follows the true story of 1950's journalist Edward R. Murrow during the times of Communism and McCarthyism. SKIMS launches campaign in collaboration with the WNBA. As part of their 'Fits Everybody' campaign, the Kim Kardashian owned clothing brand has declared themselves the official underwear partner of the WNBA. 2024 MTV Movie and TV Awards Canceled, Filmmaker Roger Corman Dead at 98, Lea Michele Reveals the Sex of Second Child
MTV Movie and TV Awards put on hold until 2025. The award show took place consistently from 1992 until 2019 before being halted in 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic. The ceremony then returned the following two years but was once again put on hold in 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America strike, which started just five days prior. An MTV spokesperson reports that the award show will return in 2025 in a new and reimagined format. Filmmaker Roger Corman dies at 98. Often referred to as 'The King of Bs,' Corman worked on hundreds of films over a seven-decade timespan including The Little Shop of Horrors , Black Scorpion , and Bloody Mama . He helped jumpstart careers and served as a mentor to many of today's most notable directors including James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Robert De Niro. Corman passed on May 9 in his California home as revealed by his family on social media. Lea Michele reveals she is expecting her first daughter. The actress/singer celebrated Mother's Day on social media by revealing the sex of her baby. The model is about 6 months along according to People. Music Producer Steve Albini dies at 61. Albini passed away on May 7 due to a heart attack according to producer/engineer Brian Fox. Albini was best known for his work with iconic artists Nirvana, the Pixies, Robert Plant, PJ Harvey and more. The legendary artist also served as the frontman for 80's band 'Big Black,' as well as 'Shellac,' who is set to release their first album in a decade next week. Last surviving MC5 member Dennis Thompson dies at 75. Thompson's death comes shortly after bandmate Wayne Kramer's passing in February, and manager John Sinclair's death last month. Thompson was the last surviving member of the band and the only one to see their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which took place just weeks ago. The drummer reportedly suffered a heart attack back in April and was in the recovery process. Jon Stewart to host The Weekly Show podcast with Comedy Central. Stewart currently appears on the network once a week to host The Daily Show on Monday nights, which he led full time for 16 years before his departure in 2015. He is also currently signed on as an Executive Producer for the late night talk show. The new podcast is set to premiere in June and will air on all major podcast platforms.
