Military dog handler rates 8 military working dog scenes in movies and TV
Terry Adams Jr., a former US Army working dog handler, rates eight military dogs in movies and television shows for realism.
Adams breaks down various breeds of military working dogs, particularly the Belgian Malinois, in the search-and-apprehension scenes in "SEAL Team" S1E7 and E14, the explosive-detection dog in "Megan Leavey," and the guard dogs in "John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum," with Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry. He looks at working dogs outside the military, such as the narcotics-detection dog in "Breaking Bad" S4E12, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul; and the German shepherd in "I Am Legend," who protects her owner — played by Will Smith — at all costs. He also explains the safety protocols and realities of dog handling during warfare, such as detecting weapons and explosives in "Max," and "NCIS" S10E18, and the realities of post-traumatic stress disorder among retired military working dogs in "Dog," starring Channing Tatum.
Adams has six years of experience as a military working dog handler for the US Army, as well as 10 years of experience handling and training civilian dogs. He had three military combat deployments, all in Afghanistan. He is the founder and head trainer of Tactical K9, a facility for training civilian and military dogs.

The Stickney Water Reclamation Plant in Illinois is one of the largest wastewater-treatment facilities in the world, serving about 2.3 million people and cleaning an average of 700 million gallons of wastewater a day. During rainfall, the facility can handle a whopping 1.44 billion gallons of wastewater in a single day — that's a million gallons every minute.
The clean water is released into the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, and the sludge that is removed from the water is converted to biosolids, which are a sustainable alternative to chemical fertilizers.

Why this prototype combat rig could help Army soldiers fight a possible war with China
A United States Army officer shares a modified combat rig that could offer service members a more optimized alternative to the traditional TAPS, or tactical assault panel system. In November, we spoke with 1st Lt. Zachary Calderone of the 25th Infantry Division during the Army's Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center, or JPMRC, training exercise in Hawaii. JPMRC is a large-scale 10-day training exercise where the US Army, along with international partners, utilizes realistic combat scenarios that prepare soldiers for battle with peer adversaries like China.
Based in Oahu, the 25th Infantry Division typically trains for combat in jungle environments. On this day, Calderone's platoon was operating in the Pōhakuloa Training Area on the island of Hawaiʻi. While the tactical assault panel system is one of the Army's standard combat rigs, Calderone was tasked by his unit to test out a prototype optimized for jungle warfare.
Calderone breaks down the differences between what he calls the "jungle rig" and the standard TAPS rig, pointing out how the new rig offers superior adjustability and breathability.
