a statement that the company has filed for
voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Florida. .
NBC reports that the largest seafood chain in
the United States said that filing for Chapter 11 will , "drive operational improvements, simplify the business
through a reduction in locations, and pursue a sale
of substantially all of its assets as a going concern.".
In a so-called stalking horse arrangement, Red Lobster
will sell the entire business to a new entity that is
completely owned and controlled by lenders. .
According to the company, lenders have
provided $100 million in financial commitments
to fund the chain's ongoing operations.

NBC reports that the company's bankruptcy
petition lists Red Lobster's assets at a value
between $1 billion and $10 billion.
The chain stressed that despite closing around
99 locations across the U.S., remaining locations
will remain open during the bankruptcy process.

that operations are unaffected.".

사흘간 전공의 31명 복귀…정부 "집단행동 멈춰달라"

[앵커]

전공의 집단 사직 사태가 석 달을 넘긴 가운데, 전공의들의 복귀 움직임은 여전히 미미한 수준입니다.

의료인력 수급의 차질이 현실화할 것이란 우려가 커지고 있습니다.

취재기자 연결합니다.

임광빈 기자.

[기자]

정부의 의대 증원 방침에 반발해 전공의들이 병원을 떠난 지 석 달이 넘었습니다.

관련 규정에 따르면, 전공의들은 수련 공백이 석 달을 초과할 경우 전문의 시험에 응시할 수 없습니다.

이 같은 불이익에도 현장에 복귀한 전공의들은 거의 보이질 않고 있습니다.

어제(20일) 기준 100개 수련병원에서 근무 중인 전공의 수는 659명으로, 사흘 전과 비교해 31명 증가하는 데 그쳤습니다.

전체 전공의 1만3천여명의 5.1% 수준입니다.

정부는 지난주 법원의 판결을 통해 의대증원 문제는 사실상 일단락됐다는 입장입니다.

그러면서 전공의마다 개인의 생각이 다를 텐데, 다양한 의견이 자유롭게 표출될 수 있도록 용기를 내주기 바란다며, 집단행동을 멈추고 병원으로 복귀할 것을 촉구했습니다.

전공의들이 복귀하지 않으면서 의료수급 차질을 우려하는 목소리가 커지고 있습니다.

당장 내년도 전문의 시험을 앞둔 3~4년 차 전공의 수만 2,910명에 달하고 있습니다.

문제는 전공의 수련이 연 단위로 이뤄지는 만큼 한번 생긴 공백은 쉽사리 메우기도 어렵다는 겁니다.

전문의 배출이 줄줄이 지연될 경우 군의관과 공보의 모집 등에도 영향이 불가피해 필수·지역의료 위기가 더 심화할 수밖에 없는 상황입니다.

이런 가운데, 임현택 대한의사협회 등은 조금 전 오후 3시부터 의협회관 대강당에서 기자회견을 열고 있는데요.

대통령실과 정부가 '전제 조건 없는 대화'를 제안한 데 대한 의협 측의 입장을 설명할 것으로 보입니다.

해병대원 특검법에 대한 윤석열 대통령의 거부권 행사가 임박하며 정국이 얼어붙고 있습니다.

국회 연결해봅니다.

방현덕 기자? 민주당이 윤석열 정권에 대한 총력 대응을 선언했다고요?

[기자]

네, 그렇습니다.

민주당은 조금 전 이곳 국회에서 조국혁신당 등 범야권과 함께 기자회견을 열고 윤석열 대통령에 대한 규탄에 나섰습니다.

"반드시 채해병 특검법을 통과시키고 범인임을 자백한 윤석열 대통령과 윤석열 정권의 엄중한 책임을 확실하게 묻겠습니다."

"검찰 독재에 더하여 행정 독재로 가고 있습니다…저는 윤석열 대통령에게 경고합니다. 이승만의 말로를 기억하라!"

범야권은 오늘 규탄대회뿐 아니라 주말 서울 도심에서 장외집회도 예고한 상탭니다.

일각에선 이런 여론 조성을 통해 탄핵을 추진해야 한다는 주장도 공공연히 내놓고 있습니다.

특검법을 비판해온 국민의힘 움직임은 어떤가요?

[기자]

국민의힘은 거대 야당의 입법 폭주라며 민주당 비판에 나섰습니다.

공수처 수사가 끝난 뒤 특검 여부를 논의해야지, 지금 같은 강행 추진은 정쟁을 위한 거라며, 거부권 행사를 옹호하는 모습입니다.

"야당이 일방적 독주를 하고 입법권한을 남용하고 행정부의 권한을 침해할 경우 최소한의 방어권이 재의요구권, 즉 거부권인 것입니다. 수사 결과를 지켜보는 것이 우선입니다. 왜 수사 중인 사건을 갖고 정쟁에 몰두하는지 이해할 수 없습니다."

민주당은 윤 대통령이 거부권을 행사하면 오는 28일로 예상되는 국회 본회의에서 재표결을 추진할 방침인데요.

국민의힘에서 최소 17명이 이탈해야 법안이 재통과 됩니다.

현실적인 가능성은 높지 않다는 게 중론인데, 찬성 입장을 밝힌 의원들은 지도부가 개별 설득 중입니다.

다만, 22대 국회에선 17명이 아닌 8명만 이탈해도 거부권이 무력화되는 만큼 근본적인 고심은 남았습니다.

이런 가운데, 국민의힘에선 벌써부터 차기 주자들의 신경전이 이어지고 있다고요.

그렇습니다.

오늘 한동훈 전 비대위원장이 오세훈 서울시장을 겨냥한 글을 SNS에 올렸습니다.

자신이 정부의 직구금지 논란을 지적한 걸 오시장이 '아쉬운 처신'이라고 지적하자, "건설적 의견 제시를 '처신' 차원에서 다루느냐"며 반박에 나선 겁니다.

어제는 유승민 전 의원과 오 시장이 SNS 설전을 벌였고, 오늘 안철수 의원도 "탁상공론의 전형"이라고 참전하는 등 직구 논란을 계기로 잠룡들의 경쟁에 불이 붙은 모양샙니다.

한편, 오늘 국회에선 초선 당선인 연찬회가 열리고 있는데요.

이 자리에서 김진표 국회의장은 팬덤정치 폐해를 지적하며 대의민주주의의 큰 위기라고 말했습니다.

새 국회의장 선거 이후 민주당 강성당원들을 중심으로 벌어지고 있는 색출 논란, 탈당 논란 등을 겨냥한 걸로 풀이됩니다.
